Horace Judson was born in Pennsylvania in March,1837. By the time he was 13 years old his parents had moved their large family to a farm in Winslow, Illinois.
Around 1858, when he was about 21 Horace married Rebecca Packer, and in September, 1859, they had their first child, Cora whom they called "C.C.". They lived in Winslow, Illinois, where Horace ha>
d grown up on his parents farm, but Horace worked as a saddler.
Sometime between 1860 and 1870 Horace and Rebecca moved their growing family to Nora, Illinois. Horace's father and mother also moved to Nora during that same period. The move may have been pre>
cipitated by a search for work, because Horace was working for the Railroad at Nora. By 1870 they had four children.
Sometime before 1875 Horace and Rebecca divorced. Ca 1875 he married Phenia Patterson, a Canadian widow/divorcee with two daughters by her previous husband, and they were living in Webster City, >
Hamilton, Iowa in 1880. They also had a child of their own, Inez, who was born in 1878. Horace was working as a harness maker.
Horace & Phenia had at least two other children, Lucy in 1885 and Silas Purdy in 1887. Both children were born in Nebraska.
By 1900 Horace and his wife had moved back to Kendron Township, Iowa, where Horace continued working as a harness maker.
In 1910 Horace and Phenia were living on a farm with their newly married son, Purdy(Silas P.] and his wife, Ethel, in Grant Township, Iowa.
Horace died sometime between 1910 and 1920, probably in Iowa. In 1920 his widow, Phenia, was living with her daughter, Ida and her son-in-law, William Garber, in Kedron Township, Iowa.
