"My name is Vickie. I have been researching the Drock/Derock geneology since last March. I am doing this for my brother Steve. We were both adopted (he from NY and I from Montreal). In locating his birthfamily, I seem to have tapped into the Drock family tree. His Mom, now deceased, Margaret Derock was from the St Regis Reservation in northern NY. She married Charles Seymour, also a Mohawk.

Margaret is said to be the daughter of Wallace Lester Derock and Lillian Faatz of NY. Wallace is the son of James Manley Derock, the son of Reuben Derock (Droek), the son of James Peter Drock, the son of Simon Drock, the son of Guy. Whew!

I hope to solidify the Native American connection. My biggest block, thus far, is that the US Census are only released through 1930. She was born in 1931. She seems to have grown up on the Reservation but I can't link Wallace to that area so far. I wonder if she was a relative who came to live with Wallace as a daughter .... puzzling.

At any rate, I am writing to ask if you have uncovered any Native connections since the writings of the Drock Stories and Drock Descendants.

I appreciate any help you might offer.

      Thanks!

Margaret's father was an abusive alcoholic and by 1940 Margaret was living in a foster home in New York.
She is said to have had 10 children all but one of which were given for adoption. The child she kept was named Shirley.
Margaret DeRock died in March, April or May 1972.
