3-6. The Judsonís and The Osbornís
3-6. The Judsonís and The Osbornís
    ~1805 - Connecticut, USA:

Cornelius Judson was born in Connecticut around 1805, possibly in Fairfield County where there was a concentration of several Judson families in the early eighteen hundreds. Before he was two years old Corneliusí parents moved to New York State, probably to Chenango County in south-eastern New York where six Judson families lived in 1820, including Phylo Judson, an uncommon name that showed up a couple of times later in Corneliusí family.

By 1830 Cornelius had married and was living in Wysox in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, which is located about fifty miles southwest of Binghamton, New York. Cornelius became caught up in the westward expansion that spread Americans of European ancestry across the continent.

  • Notes
    • [Ralph Osborn Death Certificae; US Censuses; verbal information from Roger Osborn]

According to information on Ralph Osborn's death certificate, his mother was born in Indiana. However, the 1860, 1870, 1880 & 1900 censuses all show she was born in Illinois in September, 1859, >
probably in Winslow where her parents lived in 1860 when she was 1 year old. Her parents called her C.C. when she was a baby.
Cora claimed to be a second cousin to Abraham Lincoln. The 1850 census reveals that her grandparents and father lived in Winslow, Illinois, "just down the lane" from two families of Lincolns.
By the time Cora was 11 years old her parents had moved to Nora, Illinois, where her father worked for the Railroad.
Sometime before the 1880 census in June, Cora married William Dennis and they were living in Clarion, Iowa at the time of the census. William was 28 years old and was a farmer. At that time the>
y had no children, so had probably been married less than a year.
Cora's mother and her first husband had divorced sometime after July 1870 and she had then remarried. Apparently the 2nd marriage didn't work out, and she and her second husband were divorced by>
the time of the 1880 census. She and her 14 year old daughter, Jesta Judson, lived with Cora and William.
Between June 1880 and late 1889, Cora had eight children, only three of whom survived. William Dennis either died sometime after about 1895, or they were divorced.
Cora married an unemployed carpenter,Franklin Osborne, probably early in 1900, and at the time of the US Census in June, 1900, she was 7 months pregnant and living in Randolph, Nebraska. Frank's >
      son, Delbert, lived with them.
Cora and Frank had only one child, Ralph M. Osborn, who was born on 22 December, 1900, in Randolph. The Osborn's were buying a house with a mortgage in Randolph.
In 1910 the Osborn's still lived in their house in Randolph, Nebraska, and had paid off the mortgage. Delbert Osborn no longer lived with them and their son Ralph was attending school.
Sometime between 1910 and 1920 Cora & Frank moved from Nebraska to Littleton, Arapahoe, Colorado. Cora's husband continued to work as a carpenter, and their son, Ralph, was still in school.
Frank Osborn apparently died sometime between 1920 and 1930. Cora remarried before 1930 to H.C. Martin [probably the Henry C. Martin who lived in Arapahoe County in 1920]. Her son, James Dennis>
who was then 43 and working as a barber , lived with them.
